What a superbly accomplished, refreshing, and generally delightful debut album. This floats effortlessly between lush minimal-ish tech house and dream pop, all swooning synths and aethereal vocals, underpinned by a clicky beat and delicately enhanced by little blips and bloops which I feel the need to describe as “graceful”. It’s the little details that really make this record, the layering of sounds is restrained but every little extra touch is just right. The dancier end of the music here kind of reminds me of the poppier end of Ellen Allien, which is a great thing from where I’m sitting. The swooshier end is upliftlingly sweet without a hint of tweeness, which is an impressive feat. And the closing track combines both threads in something that wouldn’t be out of place at the end of an Orbital album — how’s about that for high praise? I can’t wait to hear what KLO does next.
I bought this from Boomkat. They call it Electronic.
